For Part II of the before and after Austin Duplex reveal series, I present to you...the kitchen.
There was not any money in the budget to replace appliances, so to keep the look cohesive and brighten up a space with very little natural light I went with a bright white. I was able to find reasonable brass hardware consistent in look with the age of the existing cabinets, and replaced the flush-mount light in the breakfast area with an oversize pendant. The counters were upgraded from laminate to Kashmir white granite, and the arabesque backsplash tile was found at Home Depot.
The kitchen transformation was so dramatic, that it was a little shocking to walk in at first. As we added pops of color and more textures, however, I knew that we had made the right choice :) Stay tuned for Part III!
